Lake Tahoe Wedding Photographer
Do you remember the Caldor Fire that swept through Lake Tahoe a few years ago? Well, Ashley and Adam certainly will. After planning their wedding for years, they weren’t going to let the fire and smoke-filled sky ruin their special day. The party had to go on, no matter what!
The Caldor Fire, which started on August 14, 2021, in California’s Eldorado National Forest, was one of the most destructive wildfires that year. It spread quickly, fueled by dry conditions and high winds, threatening the Lake Tahoe Basin, including South Lake Tahoe. By the time it was fully contained on October 21, 2021, the fire had burned over 221,000 acres and destroyed more than 1,000 structures. For a while, it even seemed like downtown South Lake Tahoe might be in danger.
When Epic Love Stories arrived in South Lake Tahoe, our cars were covered in ashes, and the sky was thick with smoke and a dull, grey haze. But did that stop us? Absolutely not. As wedding photographers, we embrace the unique and dramatic conditions that nature throws our way. We thrive on capturing moments in the most unusual and challenging environments—and this was no exception.
Despite the circumstances, Ashley, Adam, and their guests didn’t let the wildfire or smoky skies dampen their spirits. The celebration was filled with unforgettable laughter, joy, and memories that will last a lifetime. It was a wedding full of resilience, love, and a reminder that sometimes, the most beautiful moments come from the most unexpected situations.
